Joining Sterndale SingersÂ

Join Us
If you want us to call you, please also provide in the form above a contact number and options as to when would be a good time to call.Â
Like many choirs we are always on the lookout for new members to join us. We are a group of around 26 people who enjoy singing under the stretching but good-humoured direction of Robert Webb, our Musical Director. If you are someone who would relish delivering quality choral singing to audiences and would like to join a group of people who enjoy making music and socialising together, then please do contact our Registrar Susan Austin using the online form at the bottom of this page.
If you are interested in joining us, you will be able to sing with the choir for two or three rehearsals so both you and we can get a feel for whether you wish to pursue membership further. If you do wish to join us there will be a short informal audition by the Musical Director. He will be looking for a reasonable singing voice that is able to blend with other choir members and to establish that you have some sight-reading ability.
We expect singing members to be able to attend rehearsals regularly in order to rehearse and consolidate learning of new repertoire. If a member misses too many rehearsals in preparation for a concert, participation in the concert will be at the discretion of the Musical Director.
We rehearse weekly on a Monday night at Holy Trinity Millhouses Church Hall, Grove Road, Sheffield S7 2GY.Â
Rehearsals are 7.30pm to 9.30pm with a short break mid-way for a chat and catch up with each other. Choir members should arrive promptly so we are ready to sing from 7.30pm.
We rehearse from September to early July, except during Christmas, Easter and the Spring Bank half-term break.
Rehearsals
Membership fees are currently £240 per year, payable monthly (£20 per month), and may be subject to periodic annual increases.Â
Membership is currently free to all who are either under 26 or in full-time education.
Any difficulties in meeting fees can be discussed in complete confidence with the Treasurer.Â
Membership Fees
As well as being a member of a choir that enjoys singing and performing together, we also like to spend time in each others company in varied social settings.
Check out our Socialising and Our Trips to France pages to see what else we get up to which you can also be a part of.
