Our Christmas concert on Saturday 20th December at 7.30pm in Holy Trinity Church Hall, Grove Road, Millhouses, S7 2GY, has a joyful Latin American flavour this year. We are joined by David Watkin-Holmes (tenor) as well as musicians on guitar, violin, double bass, percussion and piano.
We will be performing two pieces by Ariel Ramirez. Navidad Nuestra which tells the story of the Annunciation, pilgrimage to Bethlehem, Nativity, arrival of the shepherds, gifts of the three kings, and the Flight into Egypt - in Spanish and to the foot tapping rhythms of Argentine folk dances. Misa Criolla is his popular Spanish setting of the mass using Latin American folkloric dance rhythms.
Traditional early Spanish & Latin American villancicos and English Christmas carols will accompany the main programme. Seasonal refreshments will be served in the interval.
